Illuminary

Project Description

Illuminary is a 2D Metroidvania built in Unity with a team of four, and my first major team game project. I designed and implemented several of the game's core systems, including modular menu, audio, and movement systems that support responsive platforming traversal and a polished UI flow.

I also built the unlock and progression system that gates abilities and areas, enabling the exploration and backtracking loop at the heart of the Metroidvania genre. Working on a small team meant every system had to integrate cleanly with my teammates' work, which taught me a lot about communication, version control discipline, and designing systems other people can build on.

Hamster Ballin'

Project Description

Hamster Ballin' is a team-built cart racer developed in Unreal Engine by a 40+ person, multi-discipline team of designers, artists, and engineers working under Scrum. At that scale, the challenge shifts from writing code to coordinating it. Every system I touched had to survive contact with dozens of other contributors.

I inherited the prototype item system and refactored its core mechanics into a maintainable, designer-friendly framework. I also built a track tooling system handling AI behavior, item usage, and racer positioning, exposed through the editor's details panel so designers could iterate rapidly without touching code.

Fallen

Fallen game hero image

Project Description

Fallen was developed during a game jam where I served as the sole programmer on a team of four, working alongside two artists and a producer. This fast-paced development experience required rapid prototyping, efficient communication, and quick problem-solving under tight time constraints.

As the only programmer, I was responsible for implementing all gameplay mechanics, integrating art assets, and ensuring technical functionality while collaborating closely with the artists to bring their vision to life. The producer helped coordinate our efforts and kept the team on track. This project demonstrated my ability to work effectively in cross-disciplinary teams and deliver functional code under pressure while maintaining clear communication with non-technical team members.
